About

Eric Lee Sanders

SUDCC II · Founder, Broken Halo Institute · Kern County, California

Eric Lee Sanders is a California-certified substance-use counselor and the founder of Broken Halo Institute for Recovery Practice. His work draws on both direct clinical practice and his own lived experience with addiction, incarceration, and rebuilding — the same territory covered in his memoir, Broken But Breathing.

His counseling background spans direct client work, program leadership, and executive-director-level roles, incorporating motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral approaches, and faith-based methods depending on what a given program and person need. He has prior experience in harm reduction work as well.

Broken Halo Institute is where that clinical background and lived experience meet: an identity-centered curriculum project focused on the idea that recovery work has to address who someone believes they are, not only what they do.

Scope

Broken Halo Institute provides educational resources, training, and program development support. It does not provide diagnosis, individualized treatment, medical advice, or emergency services, and using this site does not create a counselor-client relationship.
